The typical rate is the median of each provider's cheapest on-demand rate for that GPU, across three or more providers, averaged over the days of the month. It also moves when providers join, leave or change what they list; "the same configurations" compares only offers listed in both months, so it shows how prices themselves moved.

The like-for-like change compares the same offers in both months, through the GPU's own index; the typical rate's change also counts providers joining or leaving. "Lowest listed" is the lowest on-demand rate any provider listed that month, in stock or not, and the first day it was listed. A dash means the GPU had no reading in August 2026.

How the month's figures are calculated

Each day the index compares every on-demand configuration a provider listed (same GPU, GPU count, instance and region) with its own most recent price in the previous seven days. Each provider counts once for each GPU it rents, and the day's change is the geometric mean of those ratios, so a price that goes back and forth leaves the index where it was, and a provider joining or leaving moves nothing. The month's figure is the average of its daily levels. The full method, every daily link and the configurations behind it are on the index page.

The typical rates come from the same daily record: for each GPU, each provider's cheapest on-demand rate counts once and the median is taken across three or more providers. Providers we could not re-read on a day are left out of that day.
