Formula: break-even hours = hardware price ÷ (rental $/hr − electricity $/hr), where electricity $/hr = watts ÷ 1000 × $/kWh. Resale value, cooling and your time are not included: the calculation covers purchase price, GPU electricity and rental compute only.
